Garden Update

Life has been pretty busy the last few weeks. I will never cease to be amazed at how little time I seem to have despite everything being cancelled… Luckily, the weather has been pretty gorgeous in southern England in the last few weeks. I’ve worked pretty hard on the garden, and and things are looking pretty gorgeous… I’m very excited for a few more things to come in the next few weeks, to fill things out even more. But it’s cleaning up so nicely!

Two or three weeks ago, I started putting a lot of effort into sorting out the garden to make it a place of calm and sanctuary, since I think I’ll be spending a lot of time out there in the coming months. (I am so lucky that I HAVE a garden during this crisis!) I cleaned up the patio area and rearranged the dining table and chairs, and moved a smaller table to a back corner that gets evening sun in the summer, next to the Rosemary bush. The used compost I’ve been spreading on The Hated Stones improved the bed immeasurably.

The front was starting to perk up nicely, too, and I was especially pleased to see that some of the bulbs I planted last year were coming through, including bluebells!

It got so warm out a few weeks ago I spread a blanket on my tiny stretch of grass and spent the day in a t-shirt reading in the fresh air. I even made a smoothie. A handful of frozen blueberries, a handful of frozen raspberries, and a bunch of almond milk, in the blender.

The new lawn mower has been working out well, and the front was looking especially sharp a week or so ago, especially with the Cherry in full bloom.

There were huge rain and windstorms in the last few days, and most of the petals have now dropped. I looked out the window this morning and it looked like pink snow.

More updates soon!
