Day 31: THANK YOU

When I decided to personalise Lupus Awareness Month this year, I had no idea what an amazing experience this would turn into. I was nervous, and, perhaps in a very British way, afraid I would come across as whinging. Instead, this has turned into an uplifting and inspiring experience for all involved.

Thank you to the hundreds of people who have read these posts. Thank you to everyone who has commented, asked questions, or even just sent the supportive “like” along the line. Thank you so much to the countless people who have sent me private messages with their own personal struggles, often struggles that they have shared with few or no other people.

I have to also thank all the friends and family, near and (very) far, who have given me so much emotional support during this (still unfolding) saga. The Skype talks, FaceTime calls, and emails have been very meaningful.

Of course, there are some fairly new friends here in Durham who have turned into absolute heroes. Deliveries of groceries, sweets, dinners (and even a potato masher) have been so appreciated. All of you popping by with your smiling faces and cups of tea (and the occasional home-made baked good) have been wonderful, and kept my spirits quite high. And there are a few very special people who have driven me to medical appointments as far afield as Spennymoor and Bishop Auckland, and for that I am eternally grateful. Just a few short years ago, I would never have been brave enough to ask for help from people I had known for less than six months. But I have learned that taking that risk is more than worth it, and I have gained in friendship and amity tenfold. This month has proven that yet again, and I am so thankful to have shared it with you all.

Funny how similar this sounds to the current situation.

Love and peace to you all. Back to normal blogging in June.
